Homemade Elote Seasoning (Clean, Customizable & Seriously Addictive)
If you’re a fan of Mexican street corn, you know the star of the show isn’t just the corn—it’s the flavor-packed toppings. And at the heart of all that magic? Elote seasoning. This smoky, tangy, slightly sweet blend turns simple grilled corn into something unforgettable.
While you can easily find pre-made elote seasoning at the store, most commercial versions are filled with things I avoid in my galley—additives like anti-caking agents, citric acid, “natural flavors,” and preservatives. Making it from scratch lets you control the flavor, the heat, and most importantly—the quality of every ingredient.
What is Elote Seasoning?
Traditionally, elote is grilled corn slathered in mayo, sprinkled with chili powder, cotija cheese, lime juice, and a dusting of spices. The seasoning is what ties it all together—bringing heat, depth, and a zingy contrast to the creamy toppings.
This homemade elote seasoning blend captures that flavor in a dry, shelf-stable mix—no cheese or fillers—so you can sprinkle it on corn, popcorn, roasted veggies, tacos, fries, and more. It’s clean, mild, and totally addictive.
