Date-Sweetened Coffee Creamer (No Refined Sugar)

If you’ve ever flipped over the label on a bottle of store-bought coffee creamer, you’ve probably seen a long list of ingredients you can’t pronounce—things like carrageenan, dipotassium phosphate, mono- and diglycerides, and vague “natural flavors.”

In my galley, we keep things real. That means no gums, no preservatives, and no mystery ingredients—just whole foods you can trust. This homemade coffee creamer is made with real milk and Medjool dates for a smooth, rich flavor without the junk.

Why Dates?

Medjool dates are nature’s sweetener. They’re rich in flavor, loaded with minerals like potassium and magnesium, and full of natural fiber. They bring a caramel-like sweetness to your coffee without the need for processed sugar or artificial syrups.

And unlike refined sugar, they’re a whole food—nothing added, nothing stripped away.

Customize It

Want to switch up the flavor? Try adding:

  • A splash of vanilla, hazelnut, or almond extract

  • A spoonful of cocoa powder for a mocha twist

  • A pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for a warm seasonal note

Healthy Homemade Coffee Creamer Sweetened With Dates

A healthy coffee creamer without additives, chemicals, or artificial ingredients and sweetened with dates in place of sugar.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups whole milk, half-and-half, cream, or 2% milk
  • 6-8 Medjool dates, pitted
  • Pinch of sea salt

Optional Ingredients

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract (or flavor of your choice)
  •  1–2 tsp cocoa powder, cinnamon, or seasonal spice blend

Instructions
 

  • Soften the dates
    Place pitted dates in a heatproof bowl and cover with hot water. Soak for 10–15 minutes until softened.
    Blend smooth
    Drain dates and add to a blender with 2 cups of milk. Blend on high until completely smooth.
    Strain (optional)
    For a silky finish, pour through a fine mesh strainer or nut milk bag.
    Finish the mix
    Add the remaining 2 cups of milk, vanilla, salt, and any optional ingredients. Stir or shake to combine.
    Store & enjoy
    Store in the fridge for up to 5 days. Shake before using.
