But what makes this recipe even better is that it’s customizable. You can add in different spices like ginger or cardamom, or even mix in some chopped nuts or cranberries for added texture and flavor.
Apple Crisp for Two
Sweet and slightly tangy, with a hint of warm spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg. The texture is a combination of soft and tender apple slices with a crispy, buttery topping. It is often served warm and can be accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for added indulgence.

Ingredients
Topping
- 4 tbsp Butter, melted
- 1/3 cup Old fashioned oats
- 1/4 cup AP fLour
- 1 tbsp Cane sugar
- 1 tbsp Brown sugar
- 1/8 tsp Kosher salt
- 1/8 tsp Nutmeg
Apples
- 2 Apples peeled and sliced or chopped
- 2 tbsp Butter melted
- 1 tbsp Cane sugar
- 1 tbsp Brown sugar
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 1½ tsp Cinnamon
- 1½ tsp Fresh Lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 F degrees.
Topping
- Whisk all of the dry ingredients together
- Then stir in the melted butter, and set aside.
Apples
- If using a cast iron, melt the butter in it, turn off the heat, and stir in the sugars, vanilla, and cinnamon.
- Toss in the apples, and add the lemon juice tossing well.
- If using an 8 by 8 baking dish, whisk the melted butter with the sugars, vanilla, and cinnamon. Add the apples and lemon juice and toss well. Then add to baking dish.
- Sprinkle the oat mixture all over the top and place in the oven.
- bake 25 minuted and serve with vanilla ice cream.
