Maple Bacon Brussel Sprouts

- 1 9 by 13 cast iron casserole pan Remanded
Ingredients
- 1 pound 1 lb. Brussels sprouts trimmed, tough leaves removed, and halved
- 4 Slices bacon not center cut
- 1/2 tsp Kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp Freshly cracked pepper
- 2 tbsp Pure maple syrup
- 1 tsp Tamari or soy sauce
- 1 tsp Spicy brown or whole-grain mustard
Optional add ins
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup dried cranberries
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup pecans
Instructions
- Turn oven to 425°
- Cook bacon in your cast iron pan until almost crispy
- If you do not have a pan that can go from stovetop to oven, then cook your bacon, and place your brussel sprouts in a bowl, and place a sheet of parchment paper on a cookie sheet.
- Remove the bacon from the pan, and set aside.
- If you did not render at least 1 tablespoon of bacon fat, add 1 tablespoon of love oil.
- Add the Brussels to the pan with the salt and pepper and toss well.
- Flip the brussels cut side down and place in the oven for 25 minutes.
- While the brussels roast, whisk together the maple syrup, mustard, and tamari.
- Dice up your bacon
- When the brussels come out of the oven toss in the maple mixture and bacon.
- Return back to the oven for 5 more minutes.
