Maple Bacon Brussel Sprouts

Maple bacon brussel sprouts are a delicious and savory side dish made from roasted brussel sprouts, crispy bacon pieces, and a sweet maple glaze. The combination of salty, smoky bacon and the natural sweetness of maple syrup creates a perfect balance of flavors. Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound 1 lb. Brussels sprouts trimmed, tough leaves removed, and halved
  • 4 Slices bacon not center cut
  • 1/2 tsp Kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp Freshly cracked pepper
  • 2 tbsp Pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp Tamari or soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Spicy brown or whole-grain mustard

Optional add ins

  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup pecans

Instructions
 

  • Turn oven to 425°
  • Cook bacon in your cast iron pan until almost crispy
  • If you do not have a pan that can go from stovetop to oven, then cook your bacon, and place your brussel sprouts in a bowl, and place a sheet of parchment paper on a cookie sheet.
  • Remove the bacon from the pan, and set aside.
  • If you did not render at least 1 tablespoon of bacon fat, add 1 tablespoon of love oil.
  • Add the Brussels to the pan with the salt and pepper and toss well.
  • Flip the brussels cut side down and place in the oven for 25 minutes.
  • While the brussels roast, whisk together the maple syrup, mustard, and tamari.
  • Dice up your bacon
  • When the brussels come out of the oven toss in the maple mixture and bacon.
  • Return back to the oven for 5 more minutes.
