Homemade Tartar Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup Chopped pickles, sweet or dilll
  • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • 6 Drops. hot sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Optional add ins

  • Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp Finally chopped shallot or onion
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp Chopped capers

Instructions
 

  • Combine all ingredients minus the salt and pepper and mix well.
  • Taste the mixture and then season with salt and pepper according to your preferences
  • Cover and refrigerate the tartar sauce for at least 30 minutes before serving. This chilling time allows the flavors to meld together and intensify.
  • Serve the tartar sauce alongside your favorite fish dishes, such as fried fish, grilled salmon, or fish cakes. It can also be used as a spread for fish sandwiches.
  • To store tartar sauce, keep it covered and chilled in the refrigerator. It should easily last 1 week or longer.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute half of the mayonnaise with Greek yogurt.
