Mason Jar Ranch Chicken Salad Recipe

Layered with homemade ranch, juicy tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, tender chicken, bacon, cheddar, and iceberg lettuce, this mason jar salad is the perfect grab-and-go meal. Top with croutons just before serving for crunch!
Prep Time 15 minutes
Chicken grilling time 18 minutes
Servings 2 quart jars

Equipment

  • 2 Quart sized mason jars

Ingredients

  • 6-8 tbsp Ranch dressing
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup cucumber, sliced or diced
  • 1 cup cooked chicken breast, chopped or shredded
  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups chopped iceberg lettuce
  • 1/2 cup croutons (add just before eating or keep separate)

Instructions

  • Start with the dressing. Spoon 2–3 tablespoons of homemade ranch dressing into the bottom of each clean pint-size mason jar.
Layer the veggies. Add the cherry tomatoes, then cucumbers. These sturdy veggies act as a moisture barrier.
Add the protein. Layer the chicken and bacon next.
Add the greens. Pack in the chopped iceberg lettuce. Press down slightly so everything fits without crushing it.
Top with cheese. Sprinkle in the shredded cheddar.
Leave room for croutons. If eating the same day, toss them on top. Otherwise, store separately in a small bag and add just before eating.
  • To Serve:
Shake the jar to distribute the dressing or pour into a bowl and toss. Enjoy chilled.

Why You’ll Love It:

  • Make-ahead friendly – stays fresh for 4–5 days
Customizable – swap proteins or veggies
Perfect for meal prep, picnics, or quick lunches
