Homemade Peanut Butter

Remember when the grocery stores had the machines to grind your own peanut butter?

Sadly, I don’t see them anymore, but making your own at home is easy and only requires peanuts and a food processor.

It only takes about 10 minutes to make creamy, smooth, or chunky all-natural peanut butter without sugar, oils, or chemicals.

You will love this peanut butter as is, or get creative by adding honey or honey-roasted peanuts; my favorite is chocolate peanut butter.

  1. Making peanut butter is easy, but you can not just turn on your processor and walk away. Your food processor must run for almost 10 minutes, including breaks, before the nuts become smooth and spreadable.
  2. You’re going to need to stop the food processor often. These breaks are an excellent opportunity to scrape down the sides of the bowl.
  3. You don’t need anything except for dry roasted peanuts and maybe salt. You can use unsalted or salted peanuts in this recipe, but if yours aren’t, you’ll need to season to taste with salt at the end.
  4. The amount of peanuts you use should be proportionate to the size of your food processor. Making one cup of peanut butter takes about 1 3/4 cups of peanuts. Because my food processor is small, I have to do one cup at a time, but with a bigger processor, you can do 2 or 3 cups at a time.

  • Add the roasted peanuts to the bowl of a food processor. Process 1 minute then scrape sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula. Process another 2 to 3 minutes until the peanut butter is shiny and smooth.
  • Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt  if using unsalted peanuts
  • Runn the processer one minute at a time until your desired smoothness.
  • Adding oil in optional and not something I add
  • You can also add Honey, start with one tablespoon and add more if desired.

chunky peanut butter

  • If you are making crunchy peanut butter, add 1/3 cup of the roasted peanuts to the bowl of a food processor.Pulse 6 to 8 times, or until the peanuts are chopped into very small pieces. Transfer chopped peanuts to a bowl and reserve for later.
  • Process your roasted peanuts for smooth peanut butter and thens stir in the reserved peanuts.

chocolate peanut butter

for 2 cups of peanuts make creamy peanut butter and then add 1/4 cup cocoa powder, and then sweetner. these are the 3 best options

  • 1/2 cup confectionery sugar
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 3 dates

Process until smooth and you might need a little oil to smooth it out.
