  • 1 egg

strawberry filling

  • strawberry jam or jelly or your favorite jelly

Nutella

  • Nutella
  • mini choolate chips

Brown Sugar Cinnamon

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp flour

Glaze

  • 3/4 cup Confectionery sugar I sift mine but not required
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • 1-2 tbsp milk

chocolate glaze

brown sugar glaze

  • 2 tsp brown sugar mixture

Instructions

  • Heat oven to 375°
  • Lay the pastry on a lightly floured surface.
  • Use a sharp knife to slice each puff pastry sheet into three columns and two rows (the puff pastry comes folded, and the three columns should be where the creases are. You should end up with 12 rectangles in total.
  • If cutting into heart shapes, roll the dough out so you can get more hearts out of each sheet.
  • Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out your hearts, and make sure you have two hearts for each pop-tart.
  • Line it with parchment paper and place half the pastry.
  • Use a spoon to put 2-3 tablespoons of your favorite filling on one side of each pastry puff. Leave ¼” – ½” around the perimeter of each rectangle to give room to seal the Pop Tart.
  • Using a pastry brush, brush the edges with the beaten egg wash
  • Take a pastry puff rectangle without filling and place it on top of the filled ones. Use a fork to crease the edges of the Pop Tart, sealing the filling inside. Make sure the edges are secured! We don’t want to lose out on the filling.
  • Use a fork to poke several holes on top, and you can brush the with egg wash if you like.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes or until puff pastry rises and starts to get golden brown.
  • While the Pop-Tarts bake, make the frosting. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk, starting with 1/2 tsp. and adding more to get to your desired consistency.
  • For chocolate, glaze add the cocoa powder before the milk.
  • For the brown sugar glaze, add the brown sugar mixture before the milk.
  • Once the Pop-Tarts have slightly cooled, add the glaze on top and sprinkle with sprinkles. Enjoy warm or save for later.
