Small Batch Apple Butter
Super concentrated, smooth spread packed with fall flavors, perfect for toast, biscuits, oatmeal, or even pancakes!

- 1½ pounds apples
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup honey or brown sugar
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
- 1/4-1/2 tsp cinnamon or apple or pumpkin pie spice
- pinch of kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
Peel, core, and slice apples into one-inch pieces
In a heavy bottom pot, add the apples, water, sugar, honey, vinegar, and 1/4 tsp cinnamon.
Bring to a simmer, and simmer for 20 minutes until the apples are soft enough to purée.
Using an emersion Blender, food processor, or blender, process until smooth.
Add the salt, and vanilla, and process for another minute.
Taste and add more cinnamon if desired.
Return to a simmer and simmer until your desired thickness and consistency.
Mine normally takes about another 20 minutes.
