Store strawberries, blueberries, and other berries using this simple method to help reduce moisture, slow spoilage, and keep them fresh longer.
1. Start with dry berries
Do not wash berries before storing. Any added moisture will shorten their life.If needed, gently wipe them with a dry flour sack towel to remove any debris.2. Sort before storing
Remove any berries that are:This step matters. One bad berry can affect the rest.3. Line a mason jar
Place a small piece of flour sack towel in the bottom of a clean, dry mason jar.This helps absorb any excess moisture during storage.4. Add the berries
Place the berries gently into the jar. Avoid packing them too tightly so they don’t bruise.5. Vacuum seal (optional)
If you have a mason jar vacuum sealer, use it to remove excess air. This can help slow spoilage.If you don’t have one, you can still use this method without it.6. Refrigerate
