Homemade Tomato Paste ketchup
Store-bought ketchup often contains additives and high amounts of sugar, and many times, the flavor can be a bit one-dimensional. Making your own ketchup means you have complete control over the ingredients. You can adjust the sweetness, acidity, and spice levels to create a flavor profile that’s just right for you. Plus, it’s a fun kitchen project that can be done in minutes.
In a large bowl, add tomato paste. Pour in vinegar and mix well. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Taste and add additional spices if desired.
Taste your homemade ketchup and adjust any of the ingredients as desired. If you like it tangier, add more vinegar. For a sweeter taste, incorporate more maple syrup or honey.
You might need some filtered water to smooth it out to desired consistancy.
It will aslo get thick when it sits and you will need to thin it out with a little gfilteredwater.
This is my go-to ketchup for recipes that call for ketchup, it is perfect for meatloafs or BBQ sauce or any other recipes that need ketchup.
