Prep Time 10 minutes
steeping time 7 days
Servings 2 cups

Equipment

  • -A clean glass jar with a lid- A fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth- A bottle for storing your finished vinegar

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Fresh strawberries
  • 2 cups White wine vinegar (or apple cider vinegar for a different flavor)
  • Optional: Fresh herbs like mint or basil for added flavor

Instructions

  • Start by washing your fresh strawberries under cool water. Remove the stems and any bruised parts, and then slice the strawberries in half. This helps release their natural juices and flavors into the vinegar.
  • In a glass jar, add the sliced strawberries. Gently muddle the strawberries with a wooden spoon or muddler to release their juices. Once they are slightly crushed, pour in the vinegar, ensuring that the strawberries are fully subme
  • Seal the jar tightly with a lid and give it a gentle shake to combine the ingredients. Let the strawberry-vinegar mixture sit in a cool, dark place for about 1-2 weeks. During this time, the vinegar will take on the beautiful color and flavor of the strawberries. You can shake the jar gently every few days to mix up the ingredients.
  • Once the infusion period is complete, it’s time to strain the mixture. Use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to separate the solids from the liquid. If you used fresh herbs in your mixture, this is also the time to remove them. Carefully transfer the strained vinegar into a clean bottle.
  • Store your homemade strawberry vinegar in the refrigerator to maintain its freshness. It should keep well for about 3 to 6 months, though it may not last that long once you start using it!
