Homemade Roasted Nuts

Roasting your own nuts is a simple and easy process that doesn't require any fancy equipment or special skills. All you need is a baking sheet, some nuts of your choice, and an oven. This not only allows you to control the quality of the nuts, but also gives you the opportunity to season them to your liking.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Servings 2 cups

Ingredients

  • 2 cups any kind of raw nut you like
  • 2 tbsp oil of your choice, coconut, extra virgin olive oil, avocado, or melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

That is the basic for a plain roasted nut bellow are ideas for different seasonings you can add

I think each seasoning is different and this is just a jumping off point you can always add more or less

Barbecue

Lemon pepper

Tajin

Gingerbread

Apple pie

Creole

Southwest

Ranch

Rosemary

  • 2 tbsp Freshly chopped rosemary
  • 1 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Paprika

Honey and Chili

  • 2 tbsp Melted butter
  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • 2 tsp Chili powder
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
Add nuts to a large bowl. Drizzle with oil and toss with your chosen seasoning(s).
Spread in a single layer on the baking sheet.
Optional: Sprinkle the sea salt over the top instead of mixing it in for a more even salt finish.
Roast for 15 minutes, stirring halfway through.
Remove from oven and let cool completely before storing.
Store in an airtight container at room temp for up to 2 weeks—or longer depending on humidity.

Tips:

  • Make a double batch—they disappear fast!
Want more flavor? Add a little extra seasoning while the nuts are still warm.
Sweet versions (like honey chili) will be slightly sticky at first, but dry nicely once cooled.

You can use any combination of

  • Almonds, cashews, walnuts, Brazil nuts, pecans, or peanuts
Raw, unsalted varieties work best—they absorb flavor better and toast evenly
Create your own nut blend or stick with a favorite!
